What is the difference between Home Care and Home Health?

Home care agencies provide in-home non-medical support services aimed at assisting clients with their Activities of Daily Living or ADLs. Basic ADLs including eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, and transferring. Home care agencies also assist with everyday tasks that help make living more comfortable, often called Instrumental Activities or IADLs. These includes such services as medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal preparation and cleanup, transportation, shopping and local errands, pet care and companionship.

Home health agencies provide in-home skilled nursing care and other health care services, such as physical, occupational and speech therapies, for the treatment of an illness or injury. These services are provided by trained medical worker such as registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, behavioral analysts, neuropsychologists, registered dieticians, recreational therapists, and social workers. Home health agencies are federally certified to provide, bill and recover for Medicare services.

What our Clients Say

“I’m writing to thank you personally and your colleagues for the care you have provided over the last year for my mother. I found that you were very responsive to her changing needs and we were never left in the lurch (even during the crisis moments). I highly commend you. I also appreciate the time that you personally gave, from the initial contact to my last visit to your offices in Burlington.”

— David C.

“I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for the dedicated and exemplary service you and your company have provided for my Mother over the past 2 years. Your caring and personal attention to detail has allowed my Mother to have a quality of life otherwise unattainable. Your ability to personally match care providers with my Mother’s unique needs is a true testament to the excellence you provide to seniors. As you know, I highly recommend you as a senior care provider to all my friends and patients who are in need of such a service.”

— Steve G.

“We have been using your caregivers for over two and a half years. They have proven to be a very reliable and responsible source of Personal Support Workers (PSWs). When we have required having our staffing components supplemented due to staff illness, short notice coverage, vacation/s, etc., we have relied on them as our sole support for this staffing need. We have found your staff to be efficient, reliable and well versed in the skills required to assist our staff in the roles and responsibilities required. We have no hesitation whatsoever to be used now or in the future as a reference for your timely and professional services which you provide.”
